What is the rental fee and what does it include?

What is the building capacity?

What dates are available?

Is there a deposit?  When are the additional payments due? Do you offer a payment plan?

  • Yes. When the contract is signed, 50% of the rental fee is due and reserves your date. This fee is non-refundable after 24 hours. The final installment will be required 90 days prior to the event. You’re welcome to send smaller, partial payments of any amount prior to the specified due date. Full payment is due by the specified due date. We also reserve the right to request a credit card on file for any damages to the facility or grounds.

How do I reserve a date?

  • To reserve a date email us at with your ideal date if it’s still available. We suggest you included a backup date in case your ideal date is unavailable. Prior to booking a date, we hope you can come visit us in person at the ranch . You can request a tour (or a Facetime tour if you live out of the area) on our tour request page, but an in person tour is not required prior to booking a date. Dates are reserved on a first requested basis. Whomever has requested to start the contract process from us by email first for a specific date will be first in line.

Do I need to schedule a tour or can I just stop by?

  • We kindly ask that you schedule a tour ahead of time. Click here to schedule.

What is the average budget of a couple getting married at felton ranch?

  • That is a great question! In general, we believe the average budget of a couple getting married at Felton Ranch is between $10,000-$20,000 for all wedding expenses (venue, food, dress, DJ, photographer, etc.).

Is there a food and beverage, or guest count minimum?

  • No. Many venues have minimums because they make a 10 - 15% commission from the caterer based on how much you spend on food and drinks. Our relationships with vendors are paramount so we choose NOT to make a commission. We want our food and beverage options to suite your style be and as simplistic or as lavish as your budget allows. Therefore we don't have a food and beverage or guest count minimum.

Do we have to utilize your caterers and bar service?

  • You’re welcome to choose your own caterers and bar service. However, they must be licensed and TABC certified as outlined in our rental contract.

Will there be another wedding the same day?

  • At Felton Ranch we only host one wedding each day to ensure that each couple's event is special and receives our full attention.

Are there overnight accommodations nearby?

  • The Sleep Inn and Suites is 9 miles away as well as closer local options. We’re happy to discuss other options.

How many cars will your parking lot accommodate?

  • 100 cars

Do you offer straight tables instead of round? 

  • We have a limited number of straight tables onsite that can be used for your gift table, head table, etc. Usually we have a few extras that can be mixed in with reception seating, but the majority of your guests will be seated at round tables.

Do you provided table linens, cups, silverware, etc? 

  • No. Felton Ranch provides an awesome venue, tables, and upgraded wedding chairs.

What happens in case of rain?

  • We provide a covered garden pavilion. If you feel you need additional protection from inclimate weather, you’re welcome to rent a tent.

We plan to have our ceremony offsite, or only plan to have our ceremony at Felton Ranch.  Does your fee change?

  • Because we only host one event per day, our fee structure remains the same whether you hold your ceremony, reception, or both onsite.

Do you allow dogs onsite to play a part in our wedding day?

  • We’re pet friendly! Whether it’s your dog or your horse, for the duration of your event animals must remain with a responsible adult and on a leash/halter. All pets must be pre-approved by Carrie or John prior to your event.

What form of payment does Felton Ranch accept?

  • We accept checks and credit cards

My preferred dates are unavailable. Do you have a cancellation waiting list?

  • We Do Not keep a cancellation waiting list because they’re unpredictable. As soon as a date becomes available we post it here

What time will I have access to the venue to decorate?

  • As listed in your contract, 11:00 am is when the venue is open to decorate. Please plan accordingly.

Do you require a “wedding day coordinator“ ?

  • We highly recommend hiring a Day of Wedding Coordinator if you don’t have a wedding planner, but we don’t require that you have one. Before making your decision it’s helpful to consider :

    1. How elaborate are you designing your day. More details means more things to keep track of.

    2. How much do you want to be fully focused on your guests and the experience of your day vs. managing details and managing vendors.

Do you include a "wedding day coordinator" ?

  • We want to make a clear distinction between what our staff provides and a wedding day coordinator. We think they’re two different things. We provide you with a Felton Ranch team leader who’s knowledgable about venue specific details. They’re here before you arrive onsite and stay with you throughout the duration of your big day. They’re here to help you however they can (extra set of hands decorating, answer questions from your vendors and direct(venue specific) them as necessary, etc.) Their goal is to do everything possible to help your day go smoothly and ensure your day is as stress-free as possible! A Wedding Day Coordinator is an additional vendor who ensures your day goes according to plan. They know the details of your wedding day and provide direction to your guests and your vendors. Felton Ranch does not provide Wedding Day Coordination services.

Catering Questions

What are our catering options at Felton Ranch?

  • You’re welcome to have the caterer of your choice as long as they’re a licensed professional.

Does Felton Ranch handle the catering orders for these caterers, or do I work with the caterer directly?

  • In our experience, it's most effective for couples to work directly with the caterer. Simply book your big day with Felton Ranch and reach out to the caterers of your choosing to schedule a tasting and get the ball rolling!

Planning Questions

When is the next open house?  

  • Our open house events are designed for couples who’ve already had a private tour of Felton Ranch. If we’ve already had a chance to meet we look forward to seeing you at one of our open house events. Open house dates and the RSVP form can be found here.

What time do you suggest we start the ceremony? 

  • We suggest starting Friday weddings at 5:00 pm, Saturday weddings between 4:00 - 5:00 pm, and Sunday weddings at 4:00 pm. This is all dependent of sunset and time of year. 

If we choose the one day option, will we be able to access the location early to rehearse our ceremony?  

  • If you choose a one day rental, our venue will likely be reserved by another couple the night before. For that reason, one day rentals should plan for an offsite rehearsal. You’re welcome to to bring anyone who’d feel more comfortable understanding the venue (like your DJ or minister, or any little ones in the wedding party) to one of our monthly open houses.

Can we have fireworks on the property? 

  • Fireworks and sparklers are not permitted. We don’t want to scare the neighbors or our livestock, and we want to keep the fire department happy!

Can vehicles be left overnight? 

  • No vehicles can be left overnight. Please advise your guests of this policy and make appropriate transportation plans. The gates will be locked at midnight and remain locked at other times to keep the cows in! We appreciate your understanding.

What time does the music need to end? 

  • Music on Friday's/Saturday's must end promptly by 10:30 p.m. to ensure that you, all of your items, and all of your vendors are off-property by midnight. Music on Sunday's must end by 9:30 p.m. to be off property by 10:00 pm.

We are using a rental company.  Can they drop items off or pick them up outside of the rental period?  

  • We are a working ranch with locked gates to keep the cows in! For that reason, all deliveries must happen during the standard rental period. Please advise your vendors of this policy.

Are candles allowed? 

  • Yes, candles are allowed as long as the flame is completely contained in a candle holder. Tapered candles and any type of hanging candles will not be allowed for safety reasons.

Is it possible to seat 9 to a table? 

  • We don’t recommend it for your guests comfort, but in a pinch, yes if one is a child.

How far in advance do you need our final headcount? 

  • Three weeks.

How do I obtain a marriage license?

  • Hays County Clerks Office The address is 712 S. Stagecoach Trail Ste. 2008 San Marcos, TX The phone number is (512) 393-7738 8:00 am-4:30 pm. Both the bride and groom must go and you'll need your drivers licenses and your social security numbers. The cost is $82.00.

Setup and Day-of-Event Questions

Are outside snacks and trays permitted?

  • Yes, outside food and drinks are permitted prior to the start of the ceremony. It’s not allowed after the start of the event.

What is the event clean-up process?

  • Felton Ranch staff is available to assist vendors with the clean up.

Can we take photos around the ranch on our wedding day?

  • Absolutely! Just ask us and we can make recommendations.

Can we nail decorations to the walls or hang things like streamers or lanterns from the beams?

  • The garden pavilion doesn’t have surfaces that accommodate nails. Many our trees are over 100 years old and we want to support their continued growth so we don’t allow nails for hanging. However, we allow double sided stick hooks to be used.
